Tao DongDong
An artist with an indissoluble bond with water, Tao DongDong is known for his unique “water ripple” creation style where he paints every figure meticulously with a technique that imitates the reflection in water. His fondness for the natural element spans back to his childhood. Tao views water as the key to unlock the wisdom of people’s souls. He finds that by turning water into an image it creates more room to express spirituality.

Born in Beijing in 1959, Tao Dongdong graduated from the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts in 1984. He worked as an art editor at China’s Pictorial Press before moving to the United States to study at the North Carolina School of Art in 1986 to pursue his master’s degree in fine arts. In 1988, he produced the largest mural “Happiness” in the United States, and was awarded the “U.S. Presidential Outstanding Artists” and the title of “American Artist Special Talent” and other honors. Having spent over 20 years in America, he now lives and works in Beijing.
Tao Dongdong has participated in many exhibitions over the years at home and abroad. His works are collected by various art museums, galleries, private collectors and offered at auction multiple times.
